Meeting Minutes
President Billy opened the meeting and called on Jeff Flowers who led the pledge and invocation.
Chris McKinney introduced the guests and visiting Rotarians. Thom Tuckey gave the Sunshine Report and shared some facts about Cyber Monday. President Billy gave thanks to last week's Club Cart Challenger, Bob Baisden and the Outside Challenger, C. Robert Baisden, who helped us raise $272.11 for the fund. The Club CART Challenger for the meeting is Darryl Leach and the Outside CART Challenger is Fuller Frost CPAs.
President Billy made the following announcements/presentations:
- The service project the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the Lucy Laney House went very well and there will be three more projects over the upcoming weeks. He thanked those involved with the Laney proejct.
- He thanked Jerry Rogers for his work to add an Interacct club at Westminister School.
Guest Speaker: Marshal Steve Smith
Topic: Richmond County Marshal's Office
Marshal Smith described the four divisions within their office and their various duties and responsbilities (Service, Enforcement, Security, and Airport). He showed a body camera video of several evictions. He talked about the work they do on background checks for weapons carry licenses. He also explained the new firearm carry laws and answered a number of related questions. He discussed how much law enforcement has changed over the past five years and how it will continue to change significantly over the next five years.
Next week's speaker will be Travis McNeal, CEO of the Golden Harvest Food Bank. Warren Road Elementary students will also be singing next week to open the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned following the recital of the Four-Way Test.
