President Jerry called on Billy Franke to join him on at the podium to discuss the clubs website and facebook presence. Jerry reminded all members to use the website to stay informed and learn more about the club and its members. Billy challenged everyone to go home this evening and Like Us on facebook. Using social media is a great way to spread the good word about Rotary and increase awareness within the community.

New Members:
Kevin Grogan introduced new member Brenda Durant. Brenda is the Executive Director of the Greater Augusta Arts Council.

Guest Speaker:
Tim Owings introduced our guest speaker, Betts Murdison, President/CEO of the Ronald McDonald House. Mrs. Murdison gave a very informative presentation on the new Ronald McDonald House on Harper Street. She described the benefits of the new house with include only being a few hundred yards from the hospital, 23 rooms with private baths, a large community room available to anyone for meetings, large community kitchen, and lots of space for quiet reflection. The house also offers a large playroom for the kids with a great view of the Children's Hospital and a special toy store for all children staying in the house.

Mrs. Murdison thanked all of the contractors, donors, volunteers, and benefactors who made the house possible. She singled out the 11 local McDonalds owners who pledged $1 million towards the project. She also thanked Dr. Ricardo Azziz and the Board of Regents for providing the land, .54 acres, to build the house. Once the need was identified the land was made available within just a few months.

Following Mrs. Murdison's presentation, Tim Owings returned to the podium and surprised her by naming Betts Murdison our newest Paul Harris Fellow.

President Jerry reminded the club that the Public Relations and Speech Contest committees would be meeting immediately following.

Next week's speaker will be Bill Kirby with the Augusta Chronicle.
The meeting was adjourned following the recital of the Four-Way Test.
