Announcements

  • The club is partnering with Turn Back the Block to help beautify an area in Harrisburg and to provide a "tool library" to homeowners there. We need about 10 volunteers to help with landscaping on Saturday, April 20, from 10 am until noon. Rotary Volunteer Project sign up
  • The club is collecting donations of new or gently-used yard tools (wheelbarrows, rakes, work gloves, gardening tools, shovels, weed-eaters, etc.) to help stock a tool library that Turn Back the Block is establishing for the residents of Harrisburg. This allows the homeowners there to keep up their yards, even if they may not be able to afford to purchase tools themselves. We will be collecting tools at the next meeting and beyond.
  • No meeting on April 8th or April 15th due to the Masters Tournament.

CART: President Bill asked everyone to please continue to contribute to the blue buckets on the table or online at mycartfund.org using the same login credentials you use with DACDB.

Guest Speaker/Program

Today’s program speaker is Dr. Jackson Drumgoole from Bridge Builder Community. Dr. Drumgoole spoke about their efforts to assist vulnerable young adults as they transition from foster care to adulthood. Dr. Drumgoole said 60% of youth leaving foster care will become homeless within six months. He discusses their plans to build 25 tiny homes at the re-zoned Mary Street city park. The tiny homes will provide safe affordable housing where they can access services that will allow them to develop skills to become self-reliant adults.

Bill led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
