Memorial Resolution

It is our Club’s custom to recognize members who have passed away within the year prior to the anniversary of their death.  David Hudson presented a memorial resolution honoring the life of Dr. Lowell Greenbaum who passed away in April 2023 at the age of 94.  Lowell was a shining example of what it means to be a Rotarian and to serve others.

Guest Speaker/Program

Dat Hoang introduced our guest speaker, Mr. Dennis Carr, President and CEO of Savannah River Nuclear Site (SRNS).

Mr. Carr explained that SRNS is the Management and Operations (M&O) Contractor for the site.  The company is a partnership between Fluor and HII.  They operate a $2.7 billion budget with 30% allocated to environmental management and 70% for national security initiatives.

The site consist of 310 square miles and is the last chemical separation facility in America and is the sole producer of Tritium.  It has been in operation 24/7 since 1952.

SRNS employees over 10,000 workers and provides approximately $1.28 billion in sub-contracts to small businesses.  Efforts are underway to increase processing capacity so that materials can be processed, transported and stored safely.
