Meeting Minutes

President Bill Keogh rang the bell and called the meeting to order.

Erick Montgomery led us in the Pledge and Invocation.

Brenda Durant gave the Sunshine Report today.

Visiting Guest(s) were introduced.

Interact Students from Richmond Academy, and Aquinas introduced themselves.

President Bill asked everyone to contribute to the blue buckets on the tables. You may give online at mycartfund.org. Login credentials are the same as DACDB. Also, please complete our club’s Google form to sign up to be a Cart Challenger.

President Bill announced this year's Signature Fundraiser will support The Hale Foundation, Inc. The Hale Foundation operates the Hale House to serve people suffering from substance abuse and to help individuals recover from alcohol and drug abuse. Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming Rotary District Grant Project. Rotary helps our community through the generous donation of time and resources to worthy causes. In a word, Rotarians make things better.

President Bill announced our club's nominations for District Awards. Our club’s nominees include:

  • Susan Jernigan – Guardian of Ethics Award
  • Neal Dickert – Vocational Excellence Award

Football Follies:  Stacy Tallent was the winner of last week’s Football picks.

President Bill reminded everyone that edits to our club’s constitution and Bylaws have been emailed to all members. Our club will vote on these edits will be voted on in our December 4, 2023, meeting. Please reach out to President Bill if there are any questions about the proposed edits.

Today’s Program

Billy Franke introduced our guest speaker today, Felix Smith, our Rotary District Governor. Felix spoke to our club about his service as District Governor and shared updates and insights about his travels visiting all the Rotary Clubs in the district. He shared ideas about future engagement opportunities and his vision for our club’s impact. Specifically, he shared information on several projects and initiatives that he has been working on and encouraged our club’s support. would like our club’s support.

  • Literacy Programs
    • There are significant challenges with literacy rates within our district and we all can play a part in addressing those challenges.
  • Polio Eradication and Annual Pledge Commitment
    • Rotary is closer than ever to a complete eradication of Polio and is on target to achieve this goal within the next few years.
  • Alzheimer’s Research and CART Fund support
    • Our support of the CART Fund is making a difference and there are opportunities for Rotarians to hear more about the fascinating work our grant recipients are doing.

Lastly, he encouraged all members to attend the upcoming District All Clubs Conference in Jekyll Island in April 2024.

President Bill led us in the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
