Meeting Minutes
President Bill Keogh rang the bell and called the meeting to order.
Brittany Burnett gave the pledge and invocation.
Faye Hargrove gave the Sunshine Report today. She also spoke about the formation of a new scouting troupe, Pack 1914, so named for the year of our founding. They had their first meeting at St. Luke’s Methodist Church last Monday. Anyone wishing to help support the troupe should come by the church. Faye thanked both the Hull Fund and District 6920 for their financial support helping to organize the troupe.
Tom Kiernan called on club members to introduce their guests in attendance today.
Announcements
- President Bill reminded the club that our GRSP Student Victoria Jorgenson is available for any events or activities you may be planning.
- Our schedule of speakers/topics for the coming weeks include,
- Alicia Sweat Executive Director of the Phinizy Center for Water Sciences
- Victoria Jorgenson, GRSP student
- As a reminder, quarterly dues statements have been distributed. Please make every effort to pay dues on time as those funds are already committed to fund club expenses.
- President Bill reminded the club to watch for details on the upcoming YPA Social.
- Also, Sacred Heart will be hosting a silent movie night on 9/21 from 7-10 p.m.
- Everyone is encouraged to use the DACdb website and app. It is a great way to stay connected with fellow Rotarians.
CART: President Bill asked everyone to please continue to contribute to the blue buckets on the table or online at mycartfund.org using the same login credentials you use with DACDB. Also, please complete our club’s Google form to sign up to be a Cart Challenger.
Guest Speaker/Program
Keeping with our arts theme this month, our guest speaker was Scott Siedl, Executive and Creative Director of the Augusta Players.
Scott reported that later this year the Players will celebrate its 80th anniversary and will be performing “The Little Shop of Horrors” at the Imperial Theater.
He discussed the summer camps and workshops offered by the Players, but was most proud of the work they do with Camp Wunderland which provides a camp for kids on the Autism spectrum. The camp takes place each July and nearly all of the participants are on scholarship to help cover the $340 cost.
Scott concluded his presentation by entertaining the Club with a sampling of Little Shop of Horrors performed by two of the cast members in attendance with him.
President Bill led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
