Meeting Minutes

President Faye rang the bell and called the meeting to order. 

Shanda Vaughn gave the pledge and invocation

Brad Owens gave the Sunshine Report today.

Club members introduced their guests in attendance today.

Announcements

  • On the first Monday, of the month, Jerry Woods and the membership committee will be available to spend 15 minutes sharing information about Rotary International and our club with prospective members.
  • Please complete our club’s Google form to sign up to be a Cart Challenger.
  • February 9th -Signature fundraiser reverse raffle, 3:00-5:00 pm at Mercedes of Augusta Dealership on Washington Road.
  • February 21st – YPA is inviting members of our club to join them for a Mixer at the Crowne Plaza from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
  • Speech Contest - The Rotary Club of Augusta is accepting contestants for its 2023 speech Contest. The theme is “Imagine Rotary”.

Paul Harris Fellows

Bill Keoh received his Paul Harris +2 pin. President Faye received her PH+1 pin.

Guest Speaker/Program

Paul Dainer introduced our guest speaker Dr. Neil MacKinnon, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Augusta University. Neil discussed the current and future direction of Augusta University. He presented the AU Strategic Plan. He covered three main themes 1) “An experience like no other”, 2) “A calling like no other” 3) “A future like no other”.

In the future, AU will have more on-line courses. The course will be 8-weeks long. The university has a goal to increase attendance from 9,800 students to 16,000 by 2030.

Faye led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
