Meeting Minutes

President Faye Hargrove rang the bell and called the meeting to order.  
Jeff Flowers gave the pledge and invocation.
Bill Keogh gave the Sunshine Report today.
Club members introduced their guests in attendance today. 
Announcements
  • Please continue to sign in each week so that we have a record of attendance.

  • We have added the virtual meeting option back for those who cannot attend in person but still wish to participate in meetings.
  •  
  • President Faye played a compelling video showing the impact of Rotary around the world and encouraging young members to join us.
  •  
  • President Faye shared that Augusta University celebrated India Day on August 27 and noted that club member Surendra Gupta is Chair of the committee and member TR Ready was honored that day for his support and accomplishments.    
  •  
  • Chair Haskell Toporek announced the Hull Fund Trustees would be meeting immediately following todays meeting.
 
GRSP
Simbai Mutoti recently attended the GRSP Conclave at Lake Lanier Island.  He joined students from 20 other countries who came to share stories, learn from each other, and build lifelong friendships.  Georgia is the only state in the country with this type of program.
 
Simbai also exchanged club flags with President Faye and she shared a letter from his home club in Harare, Zimbabwe thanking us for our support of this program.  
 
CART: President Faye asked everyone to please continue to contribute to the blue buckets on the table or online at mycartfund.org using the same login credentials you use with DACDB.  During the last Rotary year we donated $17,262.55 to CART.  
This week the inside challenger was PDG Pam Lightsey.  Cart Chair Steven Munn reported that we are looking for weekly inside and outside challengers for our meetings.  Anyone interested should reach out to Steven.  
 
Program
Rick Franza kicked off our program today with an overview of the annual College Pick’em contest.  Prizes will be awarded for weekly winners, as well as, the overall top 3 finishers.  To be eligible for the grand prizes you must compete in 11 out of the 15 weekly contests.  Please watch for an email from Ashley Duren and submit your picks by noon on Fridays.  You must include your name and email address for it to be a valid submission.  
Following the rules portion of the program, Rick was the Master of Ceremonies for our annual college football scouting reports.  The following prognosticators gave informative and entertaining reports on the upcoming season for their favorite teams;

At the conclusion of our reports President Faye led us in reciting the four-way test and adjourned the meeting.
