Guest Speaker/Program

Dr. Paul Dainer introduced our guest speaker Mr. Dirk Meyer, Music Director for the Augusta Symphony and the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra in Minnesota.

Dirk shared with the club some of the challenges presented by the Covid pandemic and expressed his gratefulness that things are getting somewhat back to normal.  Performers are starting to travel and performances are starting to fill the schedule.

He shared specifics about the upcoming Pops! series which includes 5 shows and the Symphony Season which features the work of world renowned composers.  During his presentation, Dirk played sample performances via video clips for our enjoyment.

Dirk also reminded the club that the Augusta Symphony has partnered with Columbia County to provide two family friendly shows at the library.  This year there will be a Halloween Concert and a Holiday Concert.  Both shows are about an hour in length and are geared towards young children to help get them interested in music.

He closed is presentation by taking questions from the audience.

President Shanda led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
