Meeting Minutes

President Shanda Vaughn rang the bell and called the meeting to order.  
Brittany Burnett gave the pledge and invocation.
Fay Hargrove gave the Sunshine Report.
Visiting Guests: Club members introduced their guests in attendance today.
Announcements:
President Shanda asked members to please continue to sign in each week so that we have a record of attendance.
 
District Conference
President Shanda reminded members of the Rotary District Conference that will be Friday, April 29, 2022 – Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Marriott in downtown Augusta.
 
Committee Updates
The Public Image Committee will meet today immediately following the club meeting.
 
New Member Orientation
The new member orientation scheduled for April 19, 2022, from 4:30pm-5:30pm.
 
CART
President Shanda asked everyone to please continue to contribute to the blue buckets on the table or online at mycartfund.org using the same login credentials you use with DACDB.
Gould Hagler announced that the annual golf tournament will bel held on May 3, 2022, at the River Club Golf Course and encouraged all Rotarians to participate in the event.
 
Big Bucks Bracket Challenge
Denise Vickers reported that current standings for the March Madness bracket challenge were as follows: First Place – Bill Keough, Second Place – Stacy Tallent, Third place – Rick Franza, Fourth Place – Jimmy Richards and Fifth Place – Billy Franke. 
 
Paul Harris Fellow Presentation
President Shanda announced the newest Paul Harris Fellow recipients as John Whitwell – PHF+2. She presented a Paul Harris Fellow pin to John Whitwell.
 
Guest Speaker/Program
Denise Vickers introduced this week’s guest speaker, Neil Gwynne. He presented on Amazon and the newly established fulfillment center in the CSRA. There are 110 fulfillment centers across the United States and to date Amazon has invested over $6.5B in Georgia. He continued his presentation by discussing the facility, its operations and Amazon’s overall strategy and vision. Further, he discussed specific initiatives related to employee career/ professional development through there mentorship program. Additionally, Amazon strives to create partnerships and employment opportunities with retired military members and their spouses in the CSRA and the country. Lastly, he described Amazon’s strategy to increase community giving and volunteerism through their employees in the communities their facilities are located.
 
President Shanda Vaughn led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
