Meeting Minutes
President Shanda Vaughn rang the bell and called the meeting to order. Brittany Burnett gave the pledge and invocation. Gould Hagler gave the Sunshine Report today. Club members introduced their guests in attendance today.
Announcements
- Please continue to sign in each week so that we have a record of attendance.
- Everyone is encouraged to update their pictures and contact info on the DacDb website. This is the best way to access information on our club so please keep it updated.
- Anyone interested in either being a mentor or serving on the Mentorship Committee should contact Steve Munn.
College Pick’em
You should be getting an email from Ashley Duren for you to pick your games. If you do not receive the email please contact Rick, Ashley or President Shanda. Great prizes will be given out each week and there will be prizes for the top 3 at the end of the season. Remember, we are using the point spread to determine the winner of each game.
World Changers
Erick Montgomery received two awards-Mary Gregory Jewett Award and Excellence in Rehabilitation Award
Bennish Brown was featured on the cover of the Augusta Magazine. Rediscovering Augusta.
Paul Danier participated in the PACE Race where he rode 25 miles raising money for Augusta University Cancer Research.
Rotarian Highlight
President Shanda highlighted Rotary member Dave Brendza.
Five of our members (AK Gulati, TR Ready, Surrendra Gupta, Kevin Wade and Brinda Balan) made generous donations to total $5000 on behalf of our club to support the RIP Ministries in the Dominican Republic. They provide education for Haitian Refugees. This was a partnership with the Augusta West Rotary Club. We alongside Augusta West presented a check for $10,000 to RIP Ministries this past Thurs., Oct 21.
President Shanda asked everyone to please continue to contribute to the blue buckets on the table or online at mycartfund.org using the same login credentials you use with DACDB.

Veterans Day Celebration
The celebration will be held on 11/8/2021. If you are a veteran or someone in your immediate family is a veteran or currently serving in the military, please email President Shanda at vaughnshanda@gmail.com with your branch of service, rank and years of service.
Guest Speaker/Program
Bennish Brown introduced our guest speakers, Brad Usry, HB Brantley and Cedric Johnson. They spoke about the proposed New James Brown Arena construction. The new arena will have a maximum capacity of 11,500. If funded, construction will begin in 2022 and will be complete in 2024. The construction cost is $235 million. The proposed funding will be via a property tax hike of $97 per $100,000 of property value. The bond referendum is on the November 2nd Ballot.
President Shanda led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
