Meeting Minutes
President Scott rang the bell and called the meeting to order. The pledge and invocation was given by Travis McNeal. Jim Simless welcomed our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thanks to Jeannette Cummings and the outside challenger, CTJ Contracting & Development, Inc. The club raised $310.80 for CART at our last meeting. Richards Rodgers gave our Sunshine Report.
Announcements
- President Scott mentioned our club’s Signature Fundraiser. The club is asking members to buy or sell three tickets. We have 6 meeting left to purchase tickets before the raffle.
- Next week will be our annual Christmas meeting, so please bring your children, and grandchildren to visit with Santa. The menu will be kid friendly, and we will all be treated to Bruster's Ice Cream thanks to Steve Foushee.
- No meetings on December 23rd and 30th due to Christmas and New Year's.
Program:
Erik Montgomery introduced our guest speaker Dr. Elma Green, Dean of Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities and Social Services. Dr. Green discussed the current events and future plans of the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities and Social Services. The Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society is now a part of Augusta University. Wycliffe Gordon has joined AU as the Director of Jazz Studies. The college has recently received the 2018 Ellsworth Kelly Award for solo exhibition of work by artist Bojana Ginn. She also mentioned previous guest speaker, Cheryl Goldsleger and her Venice Art Biennale, in Italy. The Pamplin College is adding innovative degree programs in animation and film & theater. Dr. Green requested Rotary Members host interns, attend events, and support their scholarships.
Following the presentation, President Scott led us in reciting the four way test and then adjourned the meeting.
