President Scott Williams rang the bell and called the meeting to order. Jim Price gave the pledge and invocation. CART: Thanks to our Inside challenger Dave Brendza. and outside challenger ADP, together we raised $367.92. This week’s inside challenger is Sheri Osburn and outside challenger is the Bush Law Firm. Millie Huff introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians. Paul Dainer introduced our Interact Students. Bill Keogh gave the Sunshine Report. President Scott welcomed our GRSP Student – William Baerenhodlt. - Bill Keogh came forward and proposed a resolution honoring club member Robert Lee Smith Jr. who recently passed away. Lee had been a member of the club since 1968 and was a Paul Harris Fellow and Sustaining Member of the Rotary Foundation. Lee’s son, Chris, and daughter in law, Allison, attended the meeting. Lee’s service made him an icon in our club and in our community. The resolution passed unanimously as signified by the entire club standing in a moment of silence.
- Jeff Simless updated the club on our weekly College Football Pic’em. Gould Hagler was the most improved picker and won the weekly contest by going from 3 wins to 9 wins this past week.
- President Scott recognized Leland Malchow for being named in the 26th edition of “Best Lawyers in America” for his work in the practice areas of Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs and Workers’ Compensation Law – Claimants. He has been recognized by his peers for “Best Lawyers” from 2011-2019. Malchow is a partner with the Nimmons Malchow Johnson law firm.
Anna Reeves introduced our guest speaker, Mr. Daniel Wilson, VP of Young Professionals of Augusta (YPA). Mr. Wilson is a sales representative with Total Comfort Solutions in Augusta. He spoke to the group today about the networking value of YPA.
He also shared with the club how YPA has helped him grow and develop his skills so that he could continue to advance his career. He encouraged all of us to support YPA by referring potential members, attending functions, or possibly sponsoring meetings.
Mr. Wilson invited everyone to attend YPA’s 12th Anniversary Party to be held November 16 at the Miller Theater. Proceeds from the event benefit the American Red Cross’ Sound the Alarm Program.
At the conclusion of the program, President Scott led us in reciting the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
