Meeting Minutes

President Scott Williams rang the bell and called the meeting to order. Erick Montgomery led us in the pledge and invocation. Jeff Simless updated us on the college pic ‘em contest. There were 89 players this week with Debra Sleeth winning week 5. Ray Walters maintains the year to date lead at 68%. Thanks to our inside challenger Chris Bird and our outside challenger Spectra, together we raised $378.66 for the Cart Fund. This week our inside challenger is Shell Berry and our outside challenger is Rhodes Law Firm, P.C. Brittany Burnett introduced our Interact students. President Scott Williams introduced our GRSP Student William Baerenholdt. If you have not had a chance to meet William, please try to do so. Faye Hargrove gave the Sunshine Report.

Kayla Cooper gave us an update on the Literacy Committee of the club. She reminded us October is National Book Month and encouraged everyone to donate a children’s book in October to "A Place to Dream."

Please remember that we will be having our Octoberfest Social from 5 – 7 pm next Monday, October 7th. This social will be in place of our normal lunch meeting for that day. Invitations will be emailed later today.  Guess and spouses are encouraged to attend.  Please make an extra effort to attend, it is going to be a great event.

Leland Malchow introduced our guest speaker Tripp Bowden.

Tripp is promoting his new book The Caddy’s Cook Book. Bowden shares forty of his favorite recipes inspired by his life spent behind the scenes at Augusta.

Tripp was introduced to golf by one of his Dad’s patients, the legendary Augusta National Caddie Master Freddie Bennett. Tripp eventually went on to play golf at Augusta University, where he earned Freshman of the year. After deciding to give up the game of golf, he had the opportunity to caddy at the Augusta National where he became the first full-time white caddy in the history of the elite private club. Tripp shared several stories of his time at Augusta National and closed by mentioning about the influence Freddy Bennett had in his life.

Following the program President Scott Williams led the club in the four-way test and adjourned the meeting.
