PROGRAM:

President Leland called on Rett Harbeson to introduce our speaker, District Governor Margaret Jacobs.

DG Jacobs has a long list of personal and professional accomplishments including 24 years of service to Rotary.  She followed in the footsteps of her parents who were both Rotarians and Paul Harris Fellows.

She spoke of the many projects underway to help others including helping farmers in Puerto Rico become self-sufficient, providing flood relief, working with a women’s group in Nepal, and installing water pumps in Uganda just to name a few.  She thanked our club for providing over $500,000 in funding to the Rotary Foundation to help with projects like these, as well as, our own local projects.

DG Jacobs announced that District 6920 now has an eClub for those who need a makeup or are looking for a little flexibility with the meeting schedule.  In closing, she reminded all of us to take care of ourselves, because we cannot help others if we do not take time to focus on ourselves.

REMINDER:

We will not meet next Monday October 8 because of Columbus Day.  Our next meeting will be October 15 and we will celebrate Oktoberfest with wine and beer starting at 5:30.  Our next regular meeting will be held on October 22 and will feature club member Dr. Zach Kelehear discussing the importance of bees.

The meeting was adjourned with the Four Way Test.
