Meeting Minutes
President Jennifer Pennington rang the bell and called the meeting to order. The pledge and invocation was given by Jeff Spears. President Jennifer gave a “Rotary Moment”. She discussed how the Rotary Club of Baabda, Lebanon and the Rotary Club of Kernsville, North Carolina are working together on an international grant for $43,000 to bring clean water to public schools in Lebanon. Kevin Grogan welcomed our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thanks to Bill Keogh, the club raised $258.50 for CART at our last meeting. Walter Sprouse was todays inside challenger. The outside challenger was Pollock. Barclay Bishop gave our Sunshine Report.
Announcements:
- Bob Baisden requested club members update their member information online at www.dacdb.com.
- Ed Presnell invited the club to attend the International Convention which will be this year in Atlanta on June 10th -14th. More information can be found at the reconvention.org or on the district website.
Program:
Randy Hatcher introduced our guest speaker Gretchen Corbin, Commissioner, Technical College System of Georgia.
Gretchen Corbin is the Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia. Gretchen oversees the state’s 22 technical colleges, adult literacy programs and workforce development. She discussed the success of the Georgia’s Quick Start Program, the “Move on When Ready” program and the Hope Career Grant. The Hope Career Grant provides free tuition to students who enroll in 1 of 12 high demand programs.
Following the presentation, President Jennifer led us in reciting the four way test and then adjourned the meeting.
No meeting on May 29, 2017 (Memorial Day)
Next meeting is June 5, 2017 and the speaker will be Kaye Menchew, “FDR: A President in our Midst”
