Meeting Minutes
President Jennifer Pennington rang the bell and called the meeting to order. The pledge and invocation was given by Jeff Flowers. President Jennifer gave a “Rotary Moment”. She discussed the Rota-Kids club of Barcelona Spain. Rota-Kids is for 12 and under children. Daniel Rhodes welcomed our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thanks to Chris Etterlee and the outside challenger, Fuller, Frost & Associates, the club raised $194.58 for CART at our last meeting. Faye Hargrove gave our Sunshine Report.
Announcements:
- Ed Presnell invited the club to attend the International Convention which will be this year in Atlanta on June 10th -14th. More information can be found at the reconvention.org or on the district website.
- Next week will be GRSP Student Sophie Pederson’s last meeting with the club. We will hear from her about her time in Georgia.
Program:
Haskell Toporek introduced our guest speaker Jill Brown with the First Tee of Augusta
Jill Brown is the executive director of the First Tee of Augusta. She discussed how the First Tee teaches children positive life skills through the game of golf. The First Tee introduces young people to nine core values that are connected with the game of golf. The program is open to children up to the age of 18. The First Tee has a 6-hole golf course, driving range, chipping green and a full-service golf shop. The First Tee program offers local and nation participant opportunities.
Following the presentation, President Jennifer led us in reciting the four way test and then adjourned the meeting.
Next meeting May 8, 2017 and the speaker will be David Alalof, the Shield Club. “Helping First Responders When They Most Need Us”
