Meeting Minutes
President Jennifer Pennington opened the meeting and called on Jeff Flowers who led the pledge and invocation. Margaret Woodard introduced the guests and visiting Rotarians. Thanks to last week’s Club Cart Challenger we raised $390.45. This week’s Inside Challenger is Paul Wade and Outside Challenger is Sanford Bruker and Banks. Gould Hagler gave the Sunshine Report. Jeff Simless announced the results of the Football Follies. Dee Bruker presented scholarships to several local students.
President Jennifer Pennington called on Tim Owings to introduce fellow Rotarian Kevin Wade.
Kevin Wade, President of Intellisystems and fellow Rotarian discussed his trip to Germany with the Rotary Group Study Exchange. While on the trip Kevin visited many Rotary Clubs and toured many historic sites. Notable sites visited were Hannover (the capital and largest city), Hildesheim (Kevin’s favorite place due to its historical significance) and a boat trip on the Maschee lake. Kevin said there was great interest in the United States elections as well as “Brexit.” There were subtle differences between former East and West Germans and all in all the German people had similar cultural priorities that we in America do.
Next meeting will be October 31, 2016 and the speaker will be Dr. Peter Buckley.
The meeting was adjourned following the recital of the Four-Way Test.
