Meeting Minutes

President Faye Hargrove rang the bell and called the meeting to order.

Erick Montgomery led us in the Pledge and Invocation.

Brenda Durant gave the Sunshine report.    

Club members introduced their guests in attendance today.

Interact Students from The Academy of Richmond County were introduced.

New Members - Carletta Sims Brown introduced our newest member, Anita Rookard. Please welcome Anita to the club.

Announcements  

  • Greeters are needed for club meetings. If interested see Kevin Grogan
  • Rotary Golf Clinic – Tuesday April 18th, 6:00 pm West Lake Country Club. (John Whitwell)
  • Club Golf Outing is Tuesday May 2nd. No regular meeting on Monday May 1st.  Gould Hagler is the event coordinator.
  • We are inviting Kiwanis Club members to join us for the clinic and the outing. Bring canned goods to donate to Golden Harvest Food Bank.
  • Club Outing at the Green Jackets game – May 10th. Contact Millie Huff if you are interested in attending.             
  • Interested in going to an Atlanta Braves game Sunday, June 11th? Game starts at 1:30pm. Let us know by May 8th meeting. Contact Millie Huff if you are interested in attending.
  • Volunteers are needed for The Garden City Festival at Sacred Heart on Saturday, April 22nd. Please contact Millie Huff, 706-339-2929,  if you are able to help with this fun, springtime event to benefit Sacred Heart.

Today’s Program- Paul Dainer introduced our guest speaker Ryan Erlacher, Director of Athletics at Augusta University.  Prior to his time with Augusta University, Erlacher served over 18 years as a coach and administrator in intercollegiate athletics. As chief athletics administrator at Clayton State, he oversaw 11 sports and managed more than 30 staff members.

Ryan mentioned there are currently 14 teams, 225 Student Athletes and a staff of 40+ full time and part time employees in the athletic Dept. Plans are to enhance the student athlete’s success by delivering the necessary resources, proactive coaching, and impactful leadership. Focusing on creating a team first culture focused on comprehensive excellence. Culture by design not by default.

  • Golf House Renovation
  • Track Complex
  • Tennis House Renovation
  • Sports Performance Complex

President Faye led us in reciting the four-way test and adjourned the meeting.
