Today’s Program

Ed Presnell came forward and introduced our Guest speaker, Mike Muldowney – Past District Governor and current Chairman of Rotary Youth Exchange for District 6920.

He presented on the various benefits, options and programs offered through the Rotary Youth Exchange. Nearly 10,000 high school students between 16 and 18 participate in the worldwide program each year. There is a relatively low costs to the families who seek to provide this opportunity to their children. The Long-Term Program is approximately 1 year in length and is the “flagship” exchange program. In this program, students are immersed in the foreign country and attend a local high school there. The Short-Term Program is a summer program that is approximately two weeks abroad with two weeks at home with an exchange brother or sister. In this program, students live with local host families that are fluent in English. Scholarships are available through Rotary for interested students.

Mike concluded his presentation by strongly encouraging and advocating that club members consider the opportunity for students in our area to participate in the program.

President Faye led us in the four-way test and then adjourned the meeting.
