Meeting Minutes

George Hall gave the pledge and prayer. Chris McKinney introduced visiting Rotarians and Interact Students. Betty Dykes was the cart challenger.

Jim Purier gave an update to the cart fund and Alzheimer's research. Cart was started as a grass roots effort that started in South Carolina
-- Cart contributed 500K to Alzheimer's research this past year
-- Our club was the #3 of 550 clubs in the SE contributing to Cart
-- Our club was #1 in our district contributing to Cart

Rev. Jim gave the sunshine report and announced birthdays and wedding anniversaries
-- May 1st is May day and is the most widely held holiday world wide
-- Don't miss the Kentucky derby this weekend
-- Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday May 20th. Please sign up.
-- District Conference is scheduled for May 2nd to 4th in Jekyll Island
-- No Meeting on Monday May 19th
-- Billy Frankie introduced a new member Richard Harmon

Program for the day - presentation by Morton our GRSP Student
-- Morton is from Denmark
-- He provided a brief history of GRSP
-- There are currently 47 students in GA with 3 in Augusta
-- There have been 3,000 since the GRSP inception in 1976
-- The motto of GRSP is Peace is Possible
-- Morton has enjoyed spending weekends with other GRSP students
-- Loves Fried Chicken
-- Loved Thanksgiving
-- Enjoyed going to the GA football game
-- He would like to study medicine and work for the World Health Organization
