| Meeting Minutes for Monday, June 7, 2010 |
Dave Steele led the pledge and invocation.
President Bob congratulated the ASU Mens Golf Team on their Division I Championship and we celebrated with a standing ovation.
Brad Means delivered the Sunshine Report.
Jim Puryear acknowledged the late Barbara Botts tremendous efforts towards the CART fund and all the contributions she made during her life on behalf of Alzheimers research, The Augusta Rotary Club and the CSRA in general.
Billy Franke introduced new member Tony Lever.
Joyce Jones introduced our speaker Terry Elam, president of Augusta Tech. Terry gave a brief history of Augusta Tech over the past ten years noting particularly:
- Augusta Tech has served over 65,000 people in the past ten years.
- They have had 13,000 graduates.
There has been a significant increase in the number of women in the workforce as well as
- certifications for employees in many fields where none were required before.
- The school now has a Columbia County campus located in Grovetown.
- The Augusta campus has made numerous additions and renovations.
As to the present and future, President Elam noted the school has and continues to add more programs particularly in the fields of energy and healthcare.
- Augusta Tech has a new nursing program.
- They are adding more core curriculum classes.
- The school is converting from a quarter to a semester system.
President Bob ended with the Four Way Test.
