Meeting Minutes for Monday, March 1, 2010
President Bob opened the meeting and called on David Burton who led the pledge and invocation.

Sandy Stevenson introduced the guests and visiting Rotarians.

President Bob announced the nominations for Club Officers and Directors for the 2010/2011 year.  Walter Dukes was recognized as the United Way Volunteer of the Year.  It was also announced that Trent Butler has resigned from the Club and will be moving to Greenville, SC.

Two Paul Harris Fellows were introduced in special presentations.  Laverne Gold introduced Mark Maund and Dee Bruker introduced Terry Williams.  Congratulations to both for this recognition and thanks for all of your contributions to our community.

Brad Means gave the Sunshine Report.

Phil Wahl introduced Randy Brown as the speaker.  Randy is a health physicist and training instructor in Counterterrorism and Homeland Security at Savannah River National Laboratory.  As part of his job, Randy provides training to members of the FBI, CIA, Coast Guard, Border Patrol and others.  Training is conducted to prepare for chemical, nuclear and biological threats.

Randy and his associates provide testing of new equipment and technologies designed to detect and identify these threats.  The Savannah River Site is particularly well suited to these activities due to the large, remote land areas, the availability of access roads to these remote areas and the various bodies of water contained within the site.  Randy described maritime operations and bomb scene training and testing activities that are used to evaluate new and different techniques and technologies.

We are fortunate to have people like Randy dedicated to training others so that we the public can be protected.

The meeting was adjourned following the recital of the Four-Way Test.
