Meeting Minutes
President Scott rang the bell and called the meeting to order. The pledge and invocation was given by Jim Price. Millie Huff welcomed our guests and visiting Rotarians. Thanks to Shell Berry and the outside challenger, Rhodes Law Firm, PC, the club raised $352.00 for CART at our last meeting. Brenda Durrant gave our Sunshine Report.
Announcements:
- Daniel Rhodes requested members support the local Scouts community at the 19th Annual Fleur-de-Lis Gala on Nov. 1st to celebrate 100 years of Scouting History in the CSRA.
- Neita Mulherin fell and broke her hip. She is currently in rehab. Please keep Neita in your thoughts and prayers.
- Dr. Mac Bowman and the Horizon Foundation is kicking off the outreach for the annual raffle fundraiser with a Bike for Health Fun Ride on Saturday, October 26th at 8:30 am at the Augusta Common.
- President Scott announced that World Polio Day is October 24th. Scott shared a video.
Program:
Assistant Governor – Rett Harbeson introduced our guest speaker District Governor-Mike Muldowney. Mike discussed the Rotary’s vision statement “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create a lasting change—across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves.” Mike highlighted Rotary’s success with fighting Polio, Alzheimer’s and literacy. Mike discussed the challenges to fight Polio in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Mike congratulated our club on our support of the Cart Fund. He stressed how the Cart Fund had started in one club and expanded worldwide. Mike also discussed how a Rotary global grant was started by a St. Simons Rotary club member to enhance sustainable agriculture in Puerto Rico. Mike encouraged members to attend the Rotary All Clubs Conference in Jekyll Island, April 24-26.
Following the presentation, President Scott led us in reciting the four way test and then adjourned the meeting.
