Just after the pledge/invocation, President Leland turned the microphone over to Scott Sidell who introduced his very special guests from the Augusta Players. CART
At our last meeting, we raised $173.16 for CART. We will continue raising money and awareness for Alzheimer's through contributions to the blue bucket, however we are going to suspend the Inside and Outside challenges for December and January while we focus on the Smash Alzheimer's Campaign and the upcoming Signature Fundraising Raffle.

Report given by Jeff Simless, announced that George Hall was the weekly winner. The leaders for the entire season are Chris Melcher, John Whitwell, and Jeff Simless, respectively.
SIGNATURE FUNDRAISING RAFFLE
President Leland updated the club on our efforts selling tickets for the raffle. So far, we have 42 members committed to buy or sell 243 tickets towards our goal of 500 tickets. We also had a very special guest, Dr. Mac Bowman, who spoke about the drive to create his Foundation and his calling to help others. He encouraged all of us to use our gifts given to us by God, to help others. A special thank you from both President Leland and Dr. Bowman to two guest in the audience, Nate Chatman and Dee Pierce from Mercedes-Benz, for their creation and ongoing support of the raffle.

PROGRAM
Rotarian Ann Katherine Murray introduced our guest speaker, Lauren Dallas, Executive Director of Turn Back the Block. Turn Back the Block is a non-profit faith based organization founded in 2010 to help rehabilitate the Harrisburg neighborhood.
Harrisburg was developed over 100 years ago, as a "mill village" comprised of employees of the King, Sibley, Enterprise and Sutherland Mills. It currently has over 300 vacant properties in need of rehab work. Ms. Dallas is the only full time employee of the organization; however, she has a legion of volunteers who call themselves FROGS, Faithful Retired Old Guys Serving.
Using donated materials and volunteer labor; houses are restored and made available to residents under very affordable terms. In addition to providing "sweat equity" by helping restore their new homes, owners are also required to participate in pre and post purchase counseling. New owners must remain in a homebuyer education program for at least one year following the purchase and they are prohibited from selling the home for a stated period to keep individuals from trying to "flip" their house for a profit.
Ms. Dallas concluded her presentation with a video featuring local resident, Marty Rose, who obtained a house in Harrisburg and is a shining example of the great work Turn Back the Block is doing to serve our community.
REMINDERS
- Lowell Greenbaum reminded everyone that December 4 is the runoff election for several state offices. Everyone is encouraged to vote.
